PART-1 ROMANS 1;1-6

6. Among whom are YE also called of Jesus Christ..

In verse one Paul starts out by calling himself a servant of Jesus Christ. He knows his position with God. We find here that the word servant means bond slave, He is not a servant as you and I would think of a servant that serves his master out of a heart of fear. But one who serves his God out of a heart of LOVE. Called to be an Apostle. He was not called a Apostle by men, but he was called to do the work of an Apostle by God. When God calls a person to do something he separates him and supplies the need to do the work. Paul was called and set apart for God use long before the Damascus road experience.

God choose him in Acts 9;15.b

"For he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bare my name unto the Gentiles, and kings and the children of Israel"

Acts 9;6 "And the Lord said unto him, Arise and GO into the city, and it shall be told Thee what thou must do"

In, I Cor.9;1,2. He received divine revelation."Am I not an Apostle? Am I not free? Have I not seen Jesus Christ our Lord? Are not ye my work in the Lord? In Gal. 1:10-12 " For do I now persuade men ,or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I yet pleased men, I should not be a servant of God.

Paul is saying here, that he does not fear what men can do to him but rather he fear God. Matt.10:28 Jesus said "Fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul. But rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell."

Paul, the old Saul, that had been guilty of punishing and even killing God’s people had now became a servant of the very one whom he persecuted.

In verse one he mentions the Gospel of God, he could not mention the gospel of God, without describing the person of The Lord Jesus Christ, which God had promised afore time by his prophets. In the Holy Scriptures.(Old Testament) V-3 says He was made of the seed of David. And was declared to be the SON OF GOD. This Gospel that Paul is talking about is not only about Jesus, It is Jesus. God himself wrapped himself in human flesh and came down into this world to save man kind from his "SIN".

Verse 5. Paul regards his calling as a heavenly gift in which he received Grace and APOSTLESHIP. The word APOSTLESHIP here takes on the meaning of bond slave. That he was called to preach obedience to the whole world, in the name of Jesus. Obedience to the faith in Jesus Christ. He want’s to bring all men, Jews and Gentiles alike into the realm of the suffering SAVIOR, not just a believing faith, the devil believes and he is condemned. He is talking about a saving faith. That brings repentance towards God. A faith that makes one quit sinning against a Holy God. V-6 Among whom are YE also the called of Jesus Christ. God had already called out some preachers and teachers at Rome. Called to be SAINTS (sheep of his pasture). The word saint here does not mean Canonization as some today would think of saints. But is one called out, set apart for God’s use, to spread the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.
